Who is who in Draken technical history?

Kurt Julin, technical president of the ABC-theatres and later SF Western Sweden. The man responsable for the construction and dimensioning all original technology, the Cinerama and the 70mm. Built some great cinemas in western and southern Sweden. Died shortly after retirement in the mid 70´s, but well remembered for his great skills and for beeing a great boss!

Walter Lagerqvist, technical manager of the same theatres. Projectionist at Draken and the guy who single handed could run an entire Cinerama-show, which he also did sometimes, for press screenings etc. Tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 1967.

Bo Sorting, my respected hero and projectionist tutor. Great and skillfull Draken projectionist who transfered to the Cosmorama theatre in 1971 and left town in the 80´s. Hope you are well!

Stig Lavén, boss for the entire Western Sweden operation. Never a bad word or a single impossibility, no matter what stupid things I suggested. A great support and guidance, the perfect boss. Stig is now retired. Hope you are well!

Nils Ericsson, technical manager for SF Western Sweden from 1967-1976, when he retired. Chief projectionist at Draken between 1956 and 1960, when he transfered to Victoria and the 70mm Todd-AO adventure. Great guy and longtime projectionist. Thanks for all the fun - and all the tolerance!

Lars Jonsson, skillfull first projectionst at Draken and the guy doing the most shows there of all. Worked the Cinerama and stayed on until retirement in 1983. My long-time companion in the booth - greatest working mate and a wizzard with mechanics. Hope you´re OK! Thanks for 20 great years!

Stefan Sjöman, technical cinematic genious making most of my Draken dreams come true. He actually built the entire sound equipment, making Draken sound best of all theatres in Sweden, without comparison, which really made it easy for me, convincing the big bosses on where to screen stuff. Without his effort there would have been no love story between 20th Century Fox and Draken and Starwars could have opened elseware.

Magnus Elm - coproducer of these WEB-pages, skillfull Draken 70mm projectionist with that special eye for timing that brings magic into a show. It was easy taking a day or two off with Magnus in the booth. Always devoted to true cinema, no ladder was too high and no hour to late to get the stuff on place in time.

Wolfgang Graupner, multi competent chief usher at Draken - done a lot of good, especially when budgets were small and demands for effort the bigger. Thank you for great work and companionship.

Ulf Jansson, skillfull cinema technician at Winberg Kino, the major technical equipment suppliers of Sweden. Designer and installer of the new sound equipment for Draken, putting her into the digital age while keeping the discrete 70mm sixtrack too.

Ari "Blomsten" Nordström, the guy that took up where I left and the guy responsible for the further development and maintanence of the Draken equipment. Together with Ulf he is the reason why Draken still produces the prettiest sounds and pictures in town.

Stefan Adler, telling the story and a Draken projectionist between 1969 and 1988. Technical manager for SF Western Sweden 1976 - 1980, when I went into teaching. Partially responsible for the Draken revival in the mid 70´s by specifying and buying lots of nice equipment to enhance the Draken experience and by nagging main office and movie distributors about enough to get the bigscreen pictures available to the theatre with the biggest screen.

Last - but not the least: all the substitute projectionists, ushers and staff that made movie magic possible at Draken! Thanks!
