DP70 RED-LED reverse scanner

Here are several final photos of our RED-LED reverse scanner for the DP70. We believe that we are the first to offer this retrofit for the DP70. It is available now for those interested. We take the original soundhead casting and machine it to fit our retrofit, or we can supply just the kit with plans for someone that has the machining capabilities or does not want to send his soundhead all the way to the States. It is fairly easy to have a competent machinist install it.

This retrofit retains true reverse scan like the original DP70 and is built to standards just like the DP70 was. For instance, all components are mounted on a hardened and ground 3/16" stainless steel plate for maximum rigidity, all items mounted to the plate are pin aligned for easy removal and replacement. The LED is mounted on a huge U shaped mount that provides more than adequate heat sinking for long LED life. Regulated power supplies are provided for both the LED and analog preamp. The analog preamp mounts to the rear of the existing sound head casting.

The price is 2750.00 U.S. all inclusive. Meaning that we do all machining, supply and install the retrofit, and align and test then unit before it leaves our shops.

This is but one of the batch of 27 machines we have begun rebuilding. This one features an internal DTS reader in place of the mag penthouse and utilizes the original mag penthouse tensioning arm. This results in a closed loop DTS reader and is far more stable than the standard "top Mount" that most are using. The new BACP analog reader retrofit is shown on the analog reproducer.

Other than a solid state drive motor system this is probably about as far as one can go to modernize these workhorses.

Any of these retrofits can be supplied by CLACO off the shelf.

Kindest regards,
Mark Gulbrandsen
