It has also been used for quite a few "ride films" using motion bases, and quite a few IMAX Dome films have been printed down to the 8/70 format. The first use of the 8/70 format for a movie shown to the public that comes to mind was for multimedia sequences in the program "VOYAGE TO THE OUTER PLANETS" in 1973. Those sequences were filmed in 8/65 with a fisheye lens and blown up to Omnimax. The entire film "COSMOS: THE UNIVERSE OF LOREN EISLEY" was blown up in this manner in 1974. The 8/70 format has been used for ride films, dome projection, 3-D, and special uses such as for projection onto water screens and, for example, in the SPIDERMAN ride in Florida.
