BREAKING 70MM NEWS! 13th Oslo 70mm festival will take place in the period June 14th – June 23rd 2019!

70mm is back on the big screen in Oslo. A mix of recent 70mm titles, restored studio prints, vintage archive prints and blow-ups will be screened on analogue film prints. «The festival has become an institution, and something our patrons are looking forward to months in advance», Jan Olsen, head programmer and technical manager states. «We had a record festival back in 2017, and I think the audience really enjoy a special evening at the movies, and appreciate the showmanship involved when putting them in the picture. A 70mm screening is a really special event, and the audience understand that they have to watch the movie in its 70mm glory to really have seen the film.»

With the recent installation of Meyer Acheron 100 front speakers, the audience will experience the 5 front channel directional sound like they never have heard before. Together with the award winning Philips DP70 projectors, perfect light illumination and Isco 8-perf. lenses makes Oslo one of the best places in the world to watch 70mm!

The city of Oslo is at it’s most beautiful in June, and plenty of time to enjoy the sea or hikes in the surroundings of Oslo, just a tram, tube or boat ride away.

On Friday and Saturday evenings during the festival, patrons are welcome to hang out in the foyer bar, or enjoy a drink outside while enjoying DJ Todd-AO playing soundtracks from his vinyl record player. This will be a great oppurtunity to get together and talk about all the wonderful aspects of the 70mm format.
