Image by Thomas HauerslevThe Academy of the Widescreen Weekend is delighted to make this year’s award to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to bringing life back to the finest of widescreen formats that we all love. He is an obsessive photographer and self-effacing philanthropist, who has shown a dedication to the cinema he loves. He fell in love with Cinerama at an early age and following a successful career in television, he has dedicated his retirement to the promotion and restoration of the Cinerama classics, the filming of a new short Cinerama ‘journey’ and his fascination with all things to do with How the West Was Won. |

 Without his support, this year’s 60th anniversary celebrations would have
been a shadow of what you have been able to enjoy this weekend. From funding
a lot of the development work on the restorations of South Seas Adventure
and Cinerama’s Russian Adventure to the new production, In the Picture, he
has sponsored: one of the highlights of the festival - the visit of Loren
Janes; - a new soundtrack for The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm; the
replacement of sections of the Museum’s print of This is Cinerama; a new
print of the Renault Dauphine 3 strip commercial; and Precious Images. |

addition to all this, he has written for Cinema Retro magazine and the
