John Harvey and his scroll.
One of the key people behind the Pictureville Cinerama installation was John Harvey (USA). John suffered a heart attack in 2004 and has since been hospitalized. Hospital bills forced him to sell his collection of Cinerama films, equipment and memorabilia.
The NMPFT felt it was in place to pay tribute to John with a special award - a scroll - , thanking him for his contribution to revitalize Cinerama. Thanks to John's enthusiasm, Cinerama has again been made available to the public. The tribute was read to the audience by Keith Swadkins (The International Cinerama Society).
Scroll Text:
This scroll is presented to John Harvey in recognition of his lifelong commitment to single-handedly preserve, restore and perpetuate the innovative motion picture format - Cinerama - in the United States of America.
It also gratefully acknowledges his invaluable contribution, after almost forty years, to the first installation of the authentic three-strip original Cinerama format to be housed in a purpose built theatre, Pictureville Cinema at the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, Bradford, West Yorkshire, Great Britain
