When I started to think about what to show this year I finally decided
that "West Side Story" was the one. I had no idea then that it
would be so popular around the world on 70mm-festivals and even a new
stage production on Broadway.
So, I was really happy thinking I made the right choice. BUT it started
off really slow. Not many seemed interested so I feared this would be
the last 70mm-screening at the Royal. Well, enjoy it as long as possible
and then there will be other festivals to attend..........
Copenhagen is very close and
then we have Bradford
and Karlsruhe not too far
away.

happy guests. Image by Martin Lyhagen.
But then, all of a sudden, it took off and eventually we were 416 happy
70mm-lovers at the Royal on March 22, 11am. WOW!!! What a day.
We had guest
from all around Skåne. From Gothenburg, Stockholm and other parts of Sweden.
And of course we had our group from Denmark. Not to forget one guest from
the US.
The print was a bit faded and red, but Roland Håkansoon, the 70mm
projectionist and Jeppe, the head projectionist at the Royal did a great
job.

The coffee-girls in the foyer: Susanne, Lilian and Maria also did a great
job both before, after and in the intermission. Thank you very much all of
you. Thank you Bo and Gevalia for the coffee. Thank you Anders and DHL for
the transport, Radiocity Audio Video for posters, Caroline Nilsson and
Sydsvenska Dagbladet for ads, SF Bio and
in70mm.com.
And of course all you dear guests. What would it have been without you. You
all together made the day unforgettable.
So, already now, thanks to you all, you can book Sunday March 14, 2010 for
the next 70mm-screening at the Royal.
What we'll show I don't know yet, but the date is decided and the Royal is
booked. Welcome to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Royal.
