Mr. Haas painting the latest "Todd-AO Festival" billboard. Image by Herbert Born

Mr. Haas is one of the very few artists still working as a billboard painter. Mr. Hass also painted the 70mm first run boards of "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Exodus" and many more for the Schauburg cinema. He is still working and naturally doing the 2011 festival poster for us.

Mr. Haas has worked in the 60's, 70's and 80's for almost all cinemas in Karlsruhe. They are all closed now, except the Schauburg.

"The Hateful Eight", January 2016

He once won a grand price from Walt Disney pictures for the best poster decoration.

We are proud to use Mr. Haas' skills on our facade. Few cinemas have room for it, but we do, and the audience appreciate the work he does

In 2017, German director Mr. Philipp Hartmann made a short film about Mr Haas, while making his own film "66 Kinos", a documentary about German cinemas.

Danke, Herr Haas!!

Birthday Billboard

Hi Thomas,

just saw Herbert's nice article about Mr. Haas and thought that you might be interested adding one of the attached pictures to this article. It shows the billboard Mr. Haas did for my 50th birthday screening at the Schauburg back in 2008. There were three of us "nerds" celebrating #50 on that day. The film's title is not shown, by the way.

Cheers Wolfram, 24.09.2011
