Cinerama
camera being readied for an historic Cinerama shoot in front of the Cinerama
Dome.
This rigorous schedule continues throughout the day as the Cinerama Camera
photographs the last location in the new 60th Anniversary Short
"In the Picture".
TCM extras and cast members begin to arrive at 7:15 AM and shooting begins
around 8:00 AM.

Moving
even slightly in front of the Cinerama Camera finds you staring directly
into one of its three eyes.
Directors and crew must remain behind the Cinerama camera when it is rolling
even thought there is a strong temptation to get out in front the massive
camera to see the actors. Moving even slightly in front of the camera puts
you right in line with one of the Cinerama camera’s three eyes. You’re in
the picture.

Cinerama
Camera #3 attracts interest while on display in the lobby.
The camera was put on display in the lobby while the TCM screening of
“How the West Was Won” was taking place.
| |
A
technical meeting before the showing of “How The West Was Won”.
The projectionists were very aware that the screening was for TCM and had
prepared extensively for the event knowing that anything can go wrong when
you least expect it. There was the pre-screening meeting and then the
checking of each other’s work and re-checking of each other’s work which
continued through reel changes during the intermission.

Scene
from “How The West Was Won”. Note the audience of a sould out Cinerama Dome
Any errors or potential problems were dealt with quickly and that resulted
in a perfect presentation.
| |
Continuous
checking and adjusting of projectors assured a clean presentation
The constant monitoring and adjusting of projectors during the show ensured
that the images joined up and looked good throughout. The pictures were
sharp, the sound was clean. The TCM audience was appreciative.

Debbie
is a popular attraction in the Cinerama Dome Lobby.
After the screening ended, Robert Osborne interviewed Debbie Reynolds on
stage. Then she proceeded to the lobby for her shot in the Cinerama Short.

Couldn’t
resist getting a picture with Debbie, one of two dozen stars of “How The
West Was Won”.
Debbie signed autographs and posed for pictures after doing a couple of
takes of her scene in the film. The wrap was about 2:00 PM, about ½ hour
behind schedule.
