Back in 2005, when the Schauburg theatre in Karlsruhe launched its „Todd-AO 70mm film festival“ for the first time, nobody knew whether a specialized festival like this would actually attract enough audience. Now, ten years later, Schauburg’s managing director Herbert Born can call himself very proud: his festival became one of the most important festivals for 70mm films worldwide, luring audiences from all around the world each year into his unique theatre! For film fans from Germany, USA, England, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, the Czeck Republic and even as far as Canada the 3-day festival has become part of their annual schedule. In his documentary German film maker Wolfram Hannemann is not only offering an inside view into the festival, but also gets the audience in front of the camera and lets them talk about their favorite subject. Their dedication speaks for itself! Rest assured that Wolfram’s film serves very well as an appetizer to the festival. But beware: you may become hooked!
