Schauburg
Cinerama. Karlsruhe's curved screen
In Karlsruhe’s Schauburg Cinerama Theater, where the screen is curved 120
degrees, Smilebox® had viewers recalling seeing analog
Cinerama in Berlin,
when it first premiered there, in 3-strip projection, in 1959.
Manager
Herbert Born used his red velvet theater curtains to lead the digital
curtains opening and closing on all our digital Cinerama shows for a premium
presentation.

In
Innsbruck’s Leo Kino, where the screen is flat, Smilebox®, in conjunction
with Cinerama’s 3 lens image capture, created the illusion of a curved
screen for each show. Here host Dietmar Zingl used his vertical lift blue
curtains to lead Cinerama’s center-separating digital curtains on each show,
for a double dose of showmanship.

Leo
Kino, Innsbruck
During a rehearsal in the Leo Kino, pausing the show with the digital
curtain closed and the theatrical curtain raised. Suddenly, the screen is curved.
Smilebox® was created by
Dave Strohmaier and is used on all of the 3-panel
Cinerama release motion pictures being screened in the
2015 European Cinerama Festival Tour.
