that time of year, Cinema Retro fans! We're about to enter our 17th year of
publishing with issue #49. Now is a great time to support the world's most unique film magazine

September, 2021.The January 2021 issue of Cinema Retro magazine is due to ship late December in the UK and Europe, and late January in America and Canada. Issue #49 is a cracking magazine to start the New Year with - and their 17th year in publication - which includes a tribute to Sean Connery, and a Film in Focus 10-page feature on the Sensurround WWII epic Midway (1976). Robert Leese reviews the weird Carnival of Souls (1962), Dave Worrall investigates what happened to the Thunderball yacht The Disco Volante, and Cai Ross examines the making of Damien: Omen 2 (1978). Also included are features on Elvis: That's the Way it Was (1970), on location in Australia for On the Beach, and Lee Pfeiffer reviews The Venetian Affair (1966) as well as Woody Allen's Take the Money and Run (1969). All of this, plus their usual round-up of CD, DVD and book news and reviews, provides a jam-packed first issue for 2021! Articles lined up for the rest of the year include interviews with Jenny Hanley and Christopher Matthews talking about Hammer's Scars of Dracula, Film in Focus features on Ice Station Zebra, Cleopatra, Tora! Tora! Tora! and an exclusive interview with director William Friedkin about the making of The French Connection, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021.
