Monumentalfilm / 1961 / Director: Vittorio Cottafavi / 103 Min. / 70mm
After numerous adventures, the son of the gods Hercules finds himself in
Atlantis, where he and his companions take on the island queen Antenea, who
has it in for the gods of the Greeks. Among the Italian "sandal films" (Pepla)
that took their cue from U.S. monumental films, this 70mm production stands
out: lavishly produced, imaginatively designed and with cheerful comic
charm, problems are solved through muscle power.
