I’m uploading a video of the introductions now, but they don’t have any light in auditorium so every time I zoomed, it went dark! Very strange.

But the film was magnificent!

I got a seat in the 3rd row front (not my favorite place but all others behind me were taken). The image was incredibly sharp. It was a huge screen. This is the first digital projection I have seen as I don’t go out to the movies, just see films at Museum of Modern Art and the NY Film Festival.

Advert from 26.08.2012 in New York Times

I asked an usher at the end if this was digital and he didn’t know! I said, “Don’t you work here?” and he said, “It’s my first day.” So another younger usher (18 yrs old, 16 yrs old?) and he said it was 4k digital. I asked what was the medium they use, like a blu-ray disc and he said no, a hard drive.

Simply amazing, I had no idea.

26.08.2012: Hot Box Office:

Oscilloscope-released "Samsara" had many reasons to celebrate as well. The Ron Fricke- and Mark Magidson-directed documentary -- which is a non-verbal continuation of the 1992 film "Baraka" -- grossed $73,792 from two screens, averaging $36,896. That's the fifth best debut of the year in terms of per-theater average (after "Moonrise," "Rome," "Sleepwalk" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild") and the best overall for a documentary.
