cinema history survives.
In the evening Johan will be present before 8 o'clock at the screening of
“La Tour du Monde en 80 Jours” (original version with French subtitles)
with his large Archive books from “Around the World in 80 Days”
and “Oklahoma!”
which contain a lot of original advertisements and articles from magazines,
etc. from the fifties. After the opening night of the 70mm Retrospective, a
lot of original 70mm films will be presented from June 13 – June 30 at the
auditorium of the museum all in their original version. The Museum of the
Cinématheque Française is open Sundays from 10-20 h, the other days from

70mm Retrospective in Paris 13-30 June 2014
Translated by Johan Wolthuis
|
|
After the conference for the conservation of
the 70mm processes, the Cinématheque Française in Paris presents eleven
films representative for the production of the prestigious 70mm format. From
Around the World in 80 Days, produced in 1956, the fifties being the
golden age of 70mm production, till
"The
Master", produced in 2012.
In between, a panorama of all kind of genres: musicals like Sound of
Music and Hello Dolly!, the war epic Patton, epic stories
like Lord Jim and Khartoum, a painter's biography from East
Germany GOYA … and the technical processes mostly from America and
Russia who gave the directors the possibilities for the creation of films of
great value while using the technical skills to realize their great
ambitions.
