This is in regards to bringing back 70 mm
film presentation in the theater. I think it’s a great idea. I always
loved 70 mm and I feel bad that the young generation hasn’t been able to
experience it. I took my Kids to see "Shutter Island", Martin
Scorsese’s new film that was shot in both 35 mm & 70 mm and the kids
loved it. It was shown on a 35 mm print, but the 70 mm part looked
awesome. It would have only been better If they could have seen it on a
70 mm print. My kids really noticed the difference. I would love to see
70mm come back!
I think there would be a real market for it, especially after the
younger generation gets the chance to compare it to digital. It would be
better then Digital LIE-MAX. Digital getting all the hoopla but film
quality is all ready there. It is the format they compare digital to.
Even when digital looks good, it looks fake! It is not the way your eye
sees in real life. Even when they start projecting 4K DI, I think it
would be a plus for film if people had the chance to compare it with 70
mm in the theater.
There is a fabulous theater in our area that closed a few years ago. It
was awesome. I remember the day it opened. It showed 35/70 on 2 large
screens each in its own dome theater. It was the real experience and the
quality was incredible! It is such a shame to see that building sit
empty and it is kind a dream of mine to be able to re-open it. I want my
kids and the younger generation to be able to experience the whole movie
experience the way it used to be.
