I just got back from visiting John Harvey in Dayton Ohio where he has been living at the Pinnacle Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre since 1998.

John, Larry and Tom outside Westminster Abbey. Mar 30, 2010.

I first met John in 2010 when Larry Smith and I accompanied him to the Bradford Widescreen Weekend. We continued on with a tour of London before returning to Dayton.

John with his collection of tape and film equipment. Jan 24, 2011

On a subsequent visit in 2011, I was surprised to see he had all his reel to reel equipment fully powered up and running when I arrived.

John still entertaining although being forced to “eat in” while recuperating from a mild heart attack during Christmas season 2013. Jan 24, 2014

In January, 2014, John was recuperating from a year end health crisis when we met up again, but he didn’t let the fact that he was confined to bed interfere with the day. He fully recovered from that incident to all our relief.

John Harvey and his new 65” curved screen TV. Dec 16, 2016

This year, never ceasing to amaze, John had a big new curved screen TV set up in his room and, when I arrived, it was all cued up to run the Rockaway Playland roller coaster. With this new technology, his Cinerama disks look spectacular. It’s an LG curved OLED 4K Smart TV – 65” Class (64.5” diag) 65EC9700 that he bought just this year after he was willed the money. So, after all these years, John still gets to watch Cinerama on the curve and gets to entertain other residents who stop by to enjoy a screening.

We spent the afternoon together on Dec 16 and John is doing fine. Hope to visit again soon.
