The following is a reference / historical
listing of the 70-millimeter presentations of The Master in the United
States and Canada.
The Weinstein Company release was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie
Nights, Inherent Vice) and starred Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour
Hoffman and Amy Adams. The films world premiere was held September 1st,
2012, at the Venice Film Festival
The 70mm prints of The Master featured Datasat audio and a mixture of
Panavision Super 70 and spherical 35mm imagery (pillarboxed at approximately
1.85:1).
During the release of The Master, Weinstein circulated a 70mm
coming-attraction trailer for Silver Linings Playbook.
