The Universal release — directed by Mark Robson (“Lost Command,” “Valley of the Dolls”) and starring Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, George Kennedy, Lorne Greene, Genevieve Bujold and Richard Roundtree — opened November 15th, 1974. The 70mm prints of “Earthquake” featured six-track stereophonic sound (some with Sensurround encoding) and full-frame imagery blown up from anamorphic 35mm.
