The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter
presentation of “Independence Day” in North America.
“Independence Day,” a 20th Century Fox release, was directed by Roland Emmerich
(“Stargate,” “Godzilla”) and starred Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum,
Mary McDonnell, Judd Hirsch, Margaret Colin, Randy Quaid, Robert Loggia, James
Rebhorn and Harvey Fierstein.
The 70mm print of “Independence Day” featured DTS audio and full-frame imagery
blown up from Super-35. The print featured multiple Scandinavian-language
subtitles.
This 70mm print was originally struck for a special “one off” presentation
September 19th, 1996 at the Spektrum in Oslo, Norway.
