The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter presentations of Jacques Tati’s “Play Time” in North America.

Jacques Tati in “Play Time” reprised his role as Monsieur Hulot, a character previously seen in “Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot” (1953, aka “Mr. Hulot’s Holiday”) and “Mon Oncle” (1958, aka “My Uncle”). The 1967 French production was not seen in North America until 1972 and for the most part has only ever been screened in 35mm.

The original 70mm prints of “Play Time” featured discrete six-channel magnetic stereophonic sound and pillarboxed imagery from 65mm origination (billed as “Mitchell 70mm” and side-matted to approximately 1.85:1). From 2004 the film’s 70mm prints featured digital audio (DTS).
